The name Genesis was unveiled with the Genesis sedan in 2004, but the Genesis brand, Hyundai’s luxury subsidiary, was launched in 2015. Genesis launched in the United States in 2016 by offering the G80 and G90. Hyundai decided to make Genesis a standalone brand because the Genesis name was already popular because of the Genesis sedan and coupes that were offered during the early 2000’s to the mid 2010’s.
